Simplylife Bakery Cafe

Location : 太古太古城道18號太古城中心1樓142號舖
Shop 142A, 1/F, Cityplaza I, 18 Taikoo Shing Road, Tai Koo
Price : about $100
Rate : 6.5/10
Comment : An overall pass, but nothing special. It's like a cheaper version of a Western restaurant. Not a dish that was perfect. Taste was alright, at least not bad. If you were craving for some Western food, yet worried about the price, then this could be an option. Or if you were just walking around and don't really have anything in mind you wanna eat, then this cafe would be okay.

Bread
- hard as a rock, basically hurt my hard palate from biting on it.

Cream of mushroom
- would be better if there were bits of mushroom to bite
- flavour was alright, nothing special though
- would be better if the soup was hotter, not just warm.

Special drink - flavoured tea
- forgot exactly what kind of tea this was. but nothing special.
- tasted like the typical bottled Nestea drinks.

Chicken caesar salad
- lack of sauce !! a bit bland.
- not sure why there's egg
- croutons weren't that good

Portobello burger
- definitely did not expect the Portobello mushroom to be that small. ordered the same thing in Canada and they gave me the whole mushroom that covered the whole area of the bread, not just a slice of it here
- overall was okay i guess. though the mushroom was a bit disappointing

醫學院大樓西餐廳

Location : 薄扶林沙宣道21號教學及行政樓7樓
Rate : 6.5/10
Price : $50+
Comment : Random. Chinese pork bone soup as a starter and then an italian spaghetti for a main course. Overall not too bad, but not great either. I'd only eat here just for something different on campus and not wanting to walk elsewhere to eat.

Chinese pork bone soup
- the soup itself was pretty good, just didn't go well with the rest of the meal

Bread
- nothing special

Italian sausage and mushrooms with spaghetti
- portion was good
- 3 slides of italian sausage that didn't taste that good and was extremely salty
- i think they should use a different type of mushroom

Milk pudding with raspberry sauce
- so-so

新巴黎越南餐廳 New Paris Vietnam Restaurant

Location : 銅鑼灣記利佐治街1號金百利廣場5樓英文地址
5/F, Island Beverley, 1 Great George Street, Causeway Bay
Rate : 4/10 (just for the buttered chicken wings)
Comment : Second time trying. Proved that I should stick to my decision - only order buttered wings there, since everything else there doesn't taste that great.

快活谷餐廳 Happy Valley Restaurant

Location : 跑馬地黃泥涌道29號C愉都大廈地下後座
Rear Portion, G/F, Peace House, 29C Wong Nai Chung Road, Happy Valley
Price : HKD$100-150
Rate : 7/10
Comment : Definitely worth the price. Hard to find a place with a set menu that has so many items for such a relatively cheap price. Ignoring the price, the food was not bad either. The presentations and the taste were pretty well. They actually had steak too, and I don't think it was much more expensive either.

Smoked salmon salad
- not bad
- didn't really expect to get smoked salmon salad as a starter
- the croutons were a bit too soft, but flavour was good

Borsche soup
- pretty good, rich flavour

Chicken with foie gras sauce ??
- flavour was pretty good
- fries were nicely fried
- chicken meat was a bit dry though.

Lemon water
- nothing special

Pineapple pancake
- presentation was pretty good
- was alright, nothing special
- i think it was canned pineapple though

永樂園餐廳 Wing Lok Yuen Restaurant

Location : 中環昭隆街19 號地下
G/F, 19 Chiu Lung Street, Central
Rate : 8/10
Price : <$20
Comment : Very famous place, especially for its hotdog (or sauce rather), but I don't find it as good as people say it is. The bread is very soft and warm when it's fresh and the sauce is good too (with lots of it), but the sausage seems a bit too small for the bread (though they do offer 2 sausages, but still). I haven't seen the exact same sauce yet, but definitely something similar, so it didn't seem THAT special to me. The hotdog is quite a good snack and tastes good too, but not something so "wow" to me.

Hotdog
- what the place is most famous for
- a lot of sauce =)

Tutti

Location : 薄扶林數碼港
               Cyperbort, Pok Fu Lam.
Date of visit : March 21, 2011.
Price : HKD$100-$130/person (lunch)
Rate : 6.5/10
Comment : Overall this restaurant was so-so, not bad but not good either. The best dish was probably the french onion soup since it was hot enough and the flavour was not too salty like most places. Other dishes weren't that great though. The linguine was quite "fishy" so I had to add a lot of black pepper with the attempt to remove the smell, though didn't work too well.

Bread + olive oil
- bread wasn't fresh, just microwaved. After a short while the bread turned rock hard . . .

French onion soup
- pretty good ; flavour was nice ; soup was hot

Waldorf salad
- never seen a waldorf salad without walnuts -_-'
- wasn't that good. it was really sour overall - both the fruit (green apple) and the dressing

Whelk and mushroom linguine
- the whelk didn't taste very fresh and had a bit of "fishy" flavour
- texture of the linguine was good though, not too soft.

- forgot the name, but it was beef and it was pretty dry.
- sauce was so-so too.

Oven House Deluxe

Location: 銅鑼灣告士打道311號皇室堡地下G16號舖
Shop 16, G/F, Windsor House, 311 Gloucester Road, Causeway Bay
Rate: 9.5/10
Price : HKD$35-45 (happy hour special HKD$26)
Comment: The cake overall was quite delicious, though it'd be better if the base was more chewy with more nuts, though it's still really good already. The flavour was nice, not too sweet. Would definitely purchase this again.
